CSW has over 10 years of experience in the assessment of safety of SCSs (robustness and dependability) based on fault injection techniques. It is a leading software company in the safety assessment of OTS components for middleware applications. In collaboration with FCTUC has developed an innovative method for fault injection, implemented by the in-house made software tool Xception TM. The major application is OTS software evaluation for technologies in the Manufacturing, Aerospace and Defense industry.
- CSW has sufficient capabilities in the area of system validation through fault injection, but wants to explore new (e.g. fault injection) methods and techniques (knowledge from FCTUC) and implement new technologies to improve critical systems assessment (CINI/UoN)
- Knowledge of academic partner CINI/UoN is needed to perform on-line fault diagnosis and dynamic reconfiguration of system. Specific expertise on fault identification and localization, reconfiguration strategies for system response to faults and recovery methods based on failure mode will be required from CINI/UoN
- Knowledge of academic partner FCTUC will be needed to provide further insight on faults characterization and fault injection approaches to OTS components assessment. Specifically expertise on failure mode identification, mitigation strategies and fault injection techniques based on object code manipulation.
CSW can provide knowledge and experience in the development, verification and validation of systems in industrial sectors such as Aerospace, Defence, and Telecommunication. The academic researchers will also have the opportunity to understand the CSW project and business model and have a deeper insight in the into the needs of research applied to industry.
